Each package of dye is 1/3 oz. This is enough to do 1 lb. of reed.

BASKET TREE BASKETRY DYE
Dyes 1 lb. Reed Dyes Woven Reed Baskets
MAY BE BLENDED WITH OTHER BASKET TREE DYE COLORS.
GENERAL DIRECTIONS: Protect work area with sheet of plastic. Wear rubber gloves. In stainless steel or enamel pan, heat one gallon of water to near boiling. Add contents of dye pkt. And mix thoroughly with metal spoon. NOTE: a portion of pkt. May be used and less water, for dyeing small quantities.
BLENDING of two or more BT dyes may be done, but test results on a small piece of reed.
DYEING TIME varies depending on freshness of the dye bath and length of dyeing time. Dip a small test strip for 5 seconds. Color will lighten slightly when dry. If color is too dark add more hot water. If too light, leave material in dye bath longer.
FOR SEVERAL SHADES OF SAME COLOR dye darkest color first, remove reed and add reed to be dyed lighter color, checking for color frequently. Repeat for lighter batch. WHEN DYEING, stir submerged reed a bit.
RINSE dyed reed in cool water until water runs clear.
Dry away from direct sunlight. Dyed materials will fade
if exposed to direct sunlight.
CLEAN UP with a mild bleach solution and rinse thoroughly.
TO WEAVE: soften dried reed in water for about 5 minutes.
